Marc Marquez believes Ducati now being the ‘Ducati Cup’ at the front line, so they should use the ‘power to win the 2022 World Championship.
The season is heading toward its end with only the final three rounds left. The first race will begin in Australia, covering five riders with 40 points.
Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo experienced a championship lead cut to just a few points after riding to 17th in the web Thailand MotoGP last weekend. On the other hand, Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia is leading Aprilia’s Aleix Espargaro, who is 20 points down. The three riders are followed by Gresini’s Enea Bastianini and Jack Miller on Ducati with 39 and 40 points, respectively.
Ducati recently discussed the factory orders. In this context, Johann Zarco revealed that the marque had issued the order to prevent battling with Bagnaia for positions that were not podiums or wins.
Following Thailand’s MotoGP, senior Ducati management visited Pramac and thanked the team after Zarco secured the third position on Bagnaia. Moreover, Ducati recently attained eight grid slots, and Marquez thinks they need to utilize them to beat Quartararo in 2022.
When asked about the factory orders in Ducati, he said that it's true that Zarco swiftly overtook him and then stayed behind Pecco, and it's normal too. Ducati has not won the World Championship since 2007, which is normal according to him.
He also said that Ducati had had the Ducati Cup in front several times, which they should take the profit of. They have the best bike on the grid that makes all the riders in front. They should use that power to win the championship; he thinks they will use it if what Zarco says is true.
Although Ducati has three riders competing in this championship, many believe that it should throw its weight behind Bagnaia as the way he overturned a 91-point deficit in the tournament before the Summer break.
When asked whether he believes Bagnaia is a favorite for the championship now, Marquez said he bet on Pecco’s bike. He considers Ducati and Fabio suitable. However, his weak point might be rain. However, he says that it will be interesting to see.
