Aleix Espargaro Says That Valencia MotoGP Finale Is the Worst Day Of His Career

At Ricardo Tormo, Aleix came into the 27-lap race with equal points with Gresini’s Enea Bastianini. He qualified three places before the Italian racer in the tenth position.

However, the sudden engine issue ruined his race. He not only dropped to last but was also forced to pull out of the race by the end of the fourth lap. It was his first DNF in the 2022 season. He was disappointed by not being able to fight for his ‘dream’ third place in the standings on the Aprilia.

During an interview, he said that the end of the season was very disappointing for him. He gave everything. It was his dream to fight for third place in the championship, which snatched his sleep from him. He knew he had a good chance as he was faster than Enea. But, because of the engine, he had to retire, which is a shame. He is unaware of what happened. However, it has become the worst day of his sporting career.

He further said that seeing the levels and bikes in the championship, it is arduous to finish in the top 10. So, finishing in the top 3 was surely a dream. He was unfamiliar with the engine problem and its reason. However, the changes he felt at the moment are very few.

Earlier this season, Aleix won a maiden victory in MotoGP in Argentina, along with five other podiums. Looking at his entire journey in the season, he is proud of what he has achieved. He said that he is proud of how he and his team have improved. Last year, he could not achieve any podium. He also did not believe that anybody would believe that he could win, make pole positions, a lot of podiums, and fight for the title.

He is proud of the way he rides during the season. He gave his best and made no mistakes during the year, which is quite difficult in 21 races. He did not crash or went off track. However, sometimes, there is nothing more one can do.
