Quartararo won the Doha GP and came back confident in Portuguese GP. Quartararo took pole position when the Frenchman and his YZR-M1 sang from the same song sheet. After falling behind from the start, El Diablo skillfully navigated his way through the pack – just like he did in Doha – to earn a comfortable victory. Alex Rins (Team Suzuki Ecstar) crashed out of second place, while Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) rose from 11th on the grid to finish second following a canceled lap in Q2. Joan Mir (Team Suzuki Ecstar), the 2020 World Champion, took his first podium of the season, while Quartararo's second win in a row gave him a 15-point lead in the championship race.
The comeback to the action of Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) remembered at the Portuguese GP. The eight-time World Champion was back on track after 265 days on the sidelines by finishing at 7th place.
